Signature Events and Traditions
Dean’s Scholars hosts a wide range of events that bring the community together throughout the year:
- Dinners: Four cornerstone events—Freshman Dinner, Holiday Dinner, Musicale and Senior Dinner—create space for celebration and connection. Each one is planned and prepared by students, complete with themed menus, performances and traditions that evolve with each class.
- Trips: Every semester, students leave campus behind to explore Texas together. Past trips include stargazing in Fort Davis, relaxing in Port Aransas and hiking through Colorado Bend.
- Traditions: Beyond formal events, DS culture is shaped by smaller traditions: spontaneous gatherings and shared rituals that strengthen the sense of belonging year after year.
Leadership and Involvement
Dean’s Scholars offers numerous opportunities to lead and shape the community. Students can get involved in the DS Council, organize events, mentor younger scholars, and contribute to initiatives both within DS and across the Austin community. Leadership is collaborative and impact-driven, allowing students to make meaningful contributions while growing as individuals.
